Oh, Hollywood. For a town that prides itself on make believe and playing up everyone’s fantasies, most big screen sex scenes are rather, well, tame. Under the covers, tame, boring coupling is fine and all, but sometimes a film comes along that titillates your imagination and gets you fired up in all the right (read: naughty) ways. Here’s a look at the kinky, sexy, freaky sex scenes that left a wicked impression on viewers around the world:
Exit to Eden (1992)
Director Gary Marshall’s laughably bad comedy Exit to Eden is one of those films that’s really better missed than viewed. Following detectives investigating an S&M themed vacation resort, this stinker of a flick features Rosie O’Donnell and Dan Aykroyd. It’s only saving grace? One deliciously scene with Dana Delany and Iman decked out in full black leather dominatrix gear.
9 ½ Weeks (1986)
It doesn’t get any 80’s hotter than Kim Basinger in 9 ½ Weeks. In what might amount to the big screen version of softcore sexy, Basinger plays a divorcee coming into her own who engages in a series of increasingly risqué adventures with dominant Wall Street move maker Mickey Rourke. One melting ice cube and a cross dressing seedy back alley scene later, you may never look at tuxedos or 80s movies the same way again.
Belle de Jour (1967)
Luis Bunuel’s surrealist fantasy about unconventional sex and the female form, Belle de Jour explores the fantasy life of a middle class housewife living the life of a daytime call girl (expertly played by Catharine Deneuve). When sex between her and her husband fizzles, Deneuve finds herself fantasizing about wild, wicked sadomasochistic sexual exploits.
Last Tango in Paris (1972)
Marlon Brando plays an American who heads to Paris to escape his life upon the death of his wife in Last Tango in Paris. There, he meets a sultry young Parisian women who wants nothing more than to have steamy, anonymous sex. One stick of butter later, you have the makings for a teary, unforgettably raw sex scene that’s sure to stay with you.
Eyes Wide Shut (1999)
When Stanly Kubrick’s Eyes Wide Shut, staring Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise, first opened, the backlash was strong. People went to see it with certain seductive expectations. But the movie is, at its heart, a Kubrick film–mostly icy and devoid of human warmth. An eerie, aloof character study without much warmth; the centerpiece of the film takes place within a lavish mansion, where a ritualistic, masked orgy is happening.
Unlike many films with a kinky slant, Secretary sets itself apart with a genuinely good storyline and a great love story that lets its taboo freak flag fly with pride. James Spader and Maggie Gyllenhaal have a myriad of fantastic scenes in this smash hit independent film, including spankings, dog collars, and mind control–all things that a young sub in love enjoy.
