I know how this all began for you.
It all began in school. You had been taught to think that men were the dominant ones, leaders to be followed. In the playground you had seen that popular boy, with his gang around him, elevating him to heights beyond anyone else’s. He even had girls chase after him, write his name on their school books, or scrawled that they loved him at the local park. That boy may have been you but if he wasn’t, you wished it were you.
You didn’t like the girls back then. You didn’t understand them and their strange ways and they said nasty things to you that sometimes hurt. And yet, there was this one girl in school, like the popular boy, who you were drawn to. She wasn’t nice to you and probably didn’t even notice you. Although you couldn’t understand why, you wanted to please her. When she wanted that bag of hula-hoops from your lunch box you found yourself giving them to her. Sometimes She wanted sweets and you bought them for her as you were bid. You didn’t know what it was about that girl that could get you to jump to her whims.
As you grew up, your attitudes didn’t change that much. You may be single, married, have kids or not but women still felt like different creatures. You remained wary of them, scared of their unpredictability. You preferred to be in the company of males, down the pub or in the golf club. Here you could moan about the women in your life, how they didn’t understand men and were mostly a pain in the neck with their funny little ways.
The reality is that you and your male friends didn’t understand the complexities of women. And privately, you remained aware of female power and you continued to find yourself inexplicably drawn to it. Catwoman was on TV and in the movies. She oozed sex appeal.. Batman had all these enemies he could defeat but it was she who always made him weak. You empathised with Batman, you knew how weak women can make you feel. There was Wonderwoman, Superwoman, the cartoon She-Ra who all made you feel in awe of just how powerful they were against men.
And later on, there was Margaret Thatcher, the longest-serving British prime minister of the 20th century and the first woman to have been appointed. She presided over a cabinet of males who loved and loathed her. Eventually she became the only Prime Minister in history to be ousted from office. Some absolutely adored her power over them and would have walked into a brick wall for her. You understood these men because Thatcher’s power excited you in ways that you still didn’t understand.
Fast forward to the present and the internet. You have now discovered new concepts; Femdomme, Dominatrices, Findommes and all sorts of weird and wonderful fetishes.
