Femme Fatale RemSequence Speaks About Breaking Down Patriarchy and Brand Marketing

This week we question Rem Sequence about bad advice, celeb crushes, and more as she discusses how a passion for social justice led her to the world of Domme – exclusively from iWantClips.

If you had a theme song that played every time you entered a room, what would it

R: “No Pity for a Coward” by Suicide Silence. I am a huge metal fan with a particularly soft spot for deathcore and Suicide Silence are one of my favourite bands. The whole album that that song is from – (The Cleansing) – has been the soundtrack to my life for the past few years.

If you could have starred in any movie, what would it be and why?

R: The Shining. The original version stars Jack Nicholson and Shelley Duvall and is an
amazing piece of cinema. But I would star in the reworking of the Stephen King novel, where I play Jackie Torrance who gets bad case of cabin fever during a winter
holiday at the Overlook Hotel with my son and husband.

Are there any major celebrities that you have a crush on?

R: I love early Marlon Brando, particularly in One Eyed Jacks; he was to die for. Even
his role as Don Corleone in The Godfather was mesmerizing. I obviously have a thing for intense men, which most of the method actors are.

What’s the one food you couldn’t live without?

R: People make so much fun of me for this one… I love sugar free Coca-Cola. I get constant lectures about how bad it is for me but I don’t care! If I don’t get my Coke every day, I get very very, grumpy. And you don’t want to see me grumpy. I may have
a problem here…

What is an unusual habit or an absurd thing that you love?

R: It can make people very uncomfortable, but I have a strange love of serial killers, and a fascination with their psychology. I try not to start spouting random facts about them until I have built some kind of relationship with people, but I generally fail miserably. My birthday is the same as Charles Manson, for instance. Damn… did it again.

What is the last book you read?

R: Speaking of a strange love of serial killers, I am nearing the end of The Stranger Beside Me by Ann Rule who as well as being a successful crime writer, was also a close friend of Ted Bundy’s before he committed a majority of his crimes. I found it by accident at a second hand book store and I had known nothing about Ann Rule until I read the book. It is an amazing account of her relationship with Bundy.

If you were to win the Power Ball tomorrow, what’s the first thing you’d do with your money?

R: First of all, I would pay off all of my debt and make sure my loved ones were set for life. I also have some close friends who have struggled immensely during their lives, and a majority of their problems could be solved by a nice big chunk of cash. I would make that happen so that they can move onto bigger and better things, as opposed to being worried about getting food on the table and a roof over their heads on a daily basis.

What is something about you that would surprise your audience?

R: I am the ultimate one-woman show. I take all my own photos and videos, edit them, make my own promo material and write all original music for my clips. I have dabbled in videography, photography and the music industry on a semi-professional basis in the past and these skills lend themselves to building my empire in adult entertainment.

What was the last job you held before joining iWantEmpire?

R: I still work part time as a data analyst, interpreting big sets of data that executives
use at a strategic level to inform government policy and planning. My goal is to continue reducing the amount of time I spend in the vanilla/straight world and have
adult entertainment as my career. I would also love to return to study to complete my PhD in Cognitive Science but you know… one thing at a time!

How did you get started on iWantClips?

R: Like many other artists in this industry, I started talking to people about what sites
they preferred, and IWantClips was consistently mentioned. Therefore, it was one of
the first sites I started putting content on.

What are some bad recommendations you hear given to people just starting out in the industry?

R: I don’t know everything about this industry but I am learning everyday. I think you have to treat it like any other business or industry. I am not super comfortable saying something is a bad recommendation, but there are some recommendations that make me cringe. Those are the ones that do not come from a place of starting where every other business needs to start. I get a bit of flack for giving away content; some other artists construe this as diminishing my worth or losing out on potential sales.

With other services or products outside of the adult industry, you would be crazy to invest your cash in something when you have no idea what you are going to get. I am
not saying “give all your good stuff away”, but I think when other artists say “don’t
give anything away”, they are kind of missing the point of marketing and building a
relationship with your fans. The reality is that the goodwill I establish with clients
when I give them a free 2 minute video in exchange for their support is the gift that
keeps giving.

On the encouragement of fellow online antagonists, I started making Domme content and it has just grown from there. I have my own style of Domme-ing; the traditional stereotype that comes to mind when you hear “Dominatrix” is not very appealing to me.

What advice would you give to a new artist starting out in the industry?

R: Do your research. Listen to other artists working in the field you are interested in. If you want to have longevity, you need to understand that the rest of us are not your competition, we are your support network. It is only through developing genuine professional relationships with your peers that you will stand the test of time. I have written a blog post on my top ten tips for independent porn creators which goes into more detail and is available on my website.

How did you get started in the Domme world?

R: It was all a bit of an accident to be honest. I have always been very passionate about social justice issues, and have been accused of being a persistent loudmouth more times than I can remember. People who know me from my Instagram profile know that I initially started there being very, very vocal about gender equality and in particular, pointing out the continued systemic privileging of men over women in ways that weren’t very gentle. This kind of manner attracts men who appreciate these characteristics in a woman, and I was soon getting requests for online fetish and Domme experiences. Although I had worked on the fringes of the adult entertainment world for many years here in Australia, I had never actually worked in the industry. On the encouragement of fellow online antagonists, I started making Domme content and it has just grown from there. I have my own style of Domme-ing; the traditional stereotype that comes to mind when you hear “Dominatrix” is not very appealing to me. I like to explore the flip side of domination; when a person’s presence inspires submission and worship in others as opposed to brute force. That is really interesting, and sexy, to me.

What was your favorite clip/session to create and why?

R: I am super proud of my Ego Destroyer Inc series. I think the concept tied really well into my branding and has helped start developing a storyline for myself. It is really motivating workwise, too! My experience in this industry was to try doing a bit of everything that I enjoyed. After this, I was able to see what I really liked doing. That is why I think making a lot of content is a good idea; it helps you to develop your style, what you are good at and what you enjoy most. Ego Destroyer Inc ties into my persona on multiple platforms; from the loudmouth, patriarchy-breaking femme fatale on social media to my self-satisfying clip star whose pleasure is all her own.
