Tuesday Ten with the Versatile Destiny Diaz

Welcome to another installment of Tuesday 10, where we launch rapid fire questions about a few of our Artists’ favorite things. This week we’re talking with the multifaceted Destiny Diaz, coming out of 2019 dripping in awards nominations, a badass with a nurturing side, dive into your next obsession with the mystical Destiny Diaz…

Movie you can quote all the lines to:

DD: Do you want this by genre or alphabetical? No, seriously. I love a good quotable movie. I quote the most from comedies like Mean Girls, Step Brothers, Baby Mama, Superbad, for Disney/Dreamworks I’d say Shrek, Toy Story, The Bee Movie. I’m a mom and although I want to say these kids movies are just background noise I’m catching, I really enjoy all of them!

Favorite holiday:

DD: Definitely Christmas, but it hurts to say that because Halloween is a REALLY CLOSE SECOND! Christmas is magical. The glowing lights trimming all the houses in the neighborhood puts me in such a cheery mood. Having my tree light up the living room, with the presents sitting under waiting for friends and family to come over and open them brings me so much joy and excitement. I love giving, and finding just the right present for someone, and I love that this holiday brings my family together. Then the idea of the new year being just around the corner forces me to reflect on my year, and set better and more realistic goals. It’s perfect.

If you had a theme song that played every time you walked into a room, what would it be?

DD: There is a song by Kings of Leon, called “Sex On Fire”, I first heard it when I was in college and it really symbolized a time in my life where I was becoming more independent, self sufficient and when I was really learning about myself. Beyonce covered this song live and that version hits different, it literally gives me goosebumps. It’s peppy, sexy and powerful. I WISH it played every time I walked into a room. Alexa, play “Sex On Fire” by Beyonce LIVE.

Favorite quote/lyric/line from a movie?

DD: There is a scene in Pretty Little Liars that I pull from whenever people ask me what my parents think of me doing sex work. Aria’s mother on the show says to her father, “We raised her to be a strong, independent woman, we can’t be upset because that’s who she became”. With that being said, my parents are proud of my work, and love to know that I’m fulfilled and thriving.

Song that gets you pumped up:

DD: I really have more of a playlist, with artists like Beyonce, Doja Cat, Hopsin, Snow Tha Product, Flawless Real Talk, Cardi B, Normani and Queen Naija. I’m really vibing with female energy right now, and then Hopsin and Flawless really bring in a hard, powerful aspect. I’m in the middle of making my 2020 playlist with all of the moods I want to bring into the new year.

Your top binge-worthy content (series, podcasts, etc):

DD: I have such a wide spectrum of recommendations. True Crime, there is a great creator on YouTube named Kendal Rae who covers some crazy true crime stories and fun conspiracy theories and more, her podcast Mile Higher is great too. If you just want something goofy and fun to laugh at while you clean, I recommend Call Her Daddy podcast, the hosts are two young roommates who talk about sex, and dating. It’s absolutely hysterical, and is fun to listen with a friend or partner to spark conversations on the topics of sex, love, relationships. I also like Impaulsive (podcast), it’s nice to get a male perspective, and their variety of guests have the topics and conversations range so much so even if it’s a guest who is a wrestler, that I know nothing about, I can still get something from that episode.

You’re stranded on a desert island, what are the ideal three items you have with you to make it an enjoyable experience?

DD: Assuming I don’t need aloe vera for my sunburn. I need a king size, fluffy, supportive pillow, a BIG ass tarp to survive the elements, and a solar powered speaker that blasts my favorite music on it. I literally listen to music when I do everything.

What do you think people notice most about you?

DD: Hard to say. When people approach me in public it’s often about my hair or makeup. My face is almost always beat, and my hair is really really really long. But at work events, conventions and such people alwaaaays point out how short I am, and how GIANT my boobs are! I guess I give off an energy online that I’m much taller, but no, I was always the shortest of all my friends.

What do you hope people notice most about you?

DD: My eyes. I think eye contact is so special both sensually and not. I just think it’s a powerful way to connect with someone in that way. And for what it’s worth, I hope people don’t notice my shoes. I always hear people take first impressions from someone’s footwear, I just have NEVER cared about what shoes were scuffing on the ground, whether it’s mine or someone else’s.

How to instantly get on your good side?

DD: Oh my god, compliment my organizational skills or creativity. I’M INSTANTLY WET!  Tell me you like something I’ve created. Support me by purchasing my clips or booking me for a show. When you support me in these ways it makes me feel like you really care about seeing me succeed, and it’s hard to get on my bad side when I know you’re on my team and rooting for me.
