Welcome to this week’s Artist Spotlight, bringing the community together by sharing our Artists’ most inspiring ideas and practices, as well as a few of their favorite things. Today we have queen of Cosplay, Raven Noir, talking video games, villains, favorite fetishes and a few surprises. Dive in if you dare…
What’s something you love about being an Artist?
RN: I love the creative freedom I get from being an artist. I am able to bring my visions to life and express myself. I have the freedom to explore and create my own brand. I have grown so much in both my professional and personal life.
How would you describe your style?
RN: I like to recreate other people’s imaginations and fantasies in a sexual way, using a mixture of conservative and innovative filming techniques. I use a combination of scripted scenes, and improv.
Most memorable moment in your career?
RN: My most memorable moment of being an artist was definitely attending the YNOT awards in Hollywood last year as a cosplay nominee. It was a very special moment for me to be recognized for my work by fans and colleagues. I will never forget it!
Tell us your favorite categories to perform in and why…
RN: My favourite categories to perform in are cosplay roleplay, JOI, bondage, and mask fetish roleplay. These are some of the things I enjoy in my personal life, so it’s very easy for me to create this type of content. It comes naturally to me and I enjoy it so much.
What’s your version of an ideal fan, and what could they do to impress you?
RN: My ideal fan would be respectful and kind. As long as someone approaches me and is polite, I will always give them time of day to answer questions they have.
Would you consider your image as an Artist to be your lifestyle, or do you enjoy a balance/separation between being work and your personal life?
RN: Parts of my work as an artist cross over into my personal life, but I have a strong sense of self and balance between the two. I love my job and I give it my all, but i’m also able to take the time to unplug so I can spend time with family, friends, and focus on my hobbies.
What does being in the moment as an Artist feel like to you… Is it exciting? Expected? Anything in between?
RN: I definitely get a rush of excitement being in the moment as an artist. I create a lot of custom content, which I absolutely love doing. Through creating custom content I’ve discovered new kinks that I now enjoy. It’s so exciting, and every day is different. I love it!
Is there something your fans would be surprised to learn about you?
RN: I create a lot of submissive content, so I think my audience would be surprised to learn that I am a switch and have a Dominant side. I have been exploring my Domme side more recently, and I think i’m ready to showcase more of that in my content creation. Stay tuned for that 😉
Last job you held before joining IWC?
RN: Before joining the IWantEmpire I was and still am a part time Audio Visual technician. I really enjoy that job as well, and I find it helps better my clip creation through learning about new video gear, lighting techniques, and sound equipment.
How did you get started on IWC?
RN: I first learned about IWantClips through some mutual friends in the community and heard many positive experiences about it. I was already curious about joining, but last year when I attended the YNOT awards in Hollywood, I met a lot of amazing content creators who host their content on IWC. After learning more about the platform, I signed up as soon as I got back home.
What kind of bad recommendations do you hear given to people just starting out in the industry?
RN: I hear a lot of models giving advice to new models on how to price their content. Everyone’s content is priced differently, due to many different factors. What’s important is that you are comfortable with the price you are selling your content at, and you find your niche market in the industry. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Do what you feel is best!
Any advice you might give to a new artist starting out in the industry?
RN: This is a really difficult industry to be in. Trust your gut, believe in yourself, and never give up. Don’t focus on the industry gossip. Stay in your own lane, work hard, keep at it, and you will succeed!
Favorite Cosplay? (or top three if it’s too hard to pick just one)
RN: It’s hard to choose, but I love my Zombiegirl undead hunter from World of Warcraft. I put over 100 hours into building my armor set and weapon, and I’m so proud of it. I also love my Kaileena from Prince of Persia cosplay, and Cindiana Jones. I’m currently working on a cosplay build right now, and I think it might become one of my favourites!
As a gamer, what is your video game of choice?
RN: This is a very difficult question, so I’ll narrow it down to a top. My 3 all time favourite video games would have to be Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time, Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and World of Warcraft.
We know you love horror. Can you name your favorite horror film, final girl and horror “villain”?
RN: My favourite horror films are Friday the 13th and Evil Dead. My favourite final girl is Sidney Prescott from Scream, and my favourite horror villain is Jason.
If you had a theme song that played every time you entered a room, what would it be?
RN: “Can’t Stop” by the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
If you could have starred in any movie, what would it be and why?
RN: If I could have starred in any movie, I would have to say Dawn of the Dead. Horror movies are my favourite, and I’m a huge fan of the zombie genre and George A Romero created that. I love his work! Dawn of the Dead is one of my favourite movies.
What is the last book you read?
RN: The last book I read was “Ghost Stories – Classic Tales of Horror and Suspense”.
Dream vacation destination?
RN: I love travelling and have always wanted to visit Italy. I hope one day I will make it there.
What’s the one food you couldn’t live without?
RN: This is a very Canadian answer… but definitely poutine. Fries, cheese curds, and gravy. What’s not to love?
Do you have any current obsessions?
RN: The Witcher TV series!
